This release is pretty surreal for me. When I was 13, I picked up a mystery box from Facedown Records that included a bunch of old Strike First releases, like Anam Cara, The Redemption Song, and others. But this one grabbed my eye immediately. The Look Alive artwork was different than anything I’d seen before, and when I popped it into my CD player, I was blown away. Fast, angry, hardcore with thoughtful (though sardonic, often hilarious) lyrics, that reframed age old questions about how to live the best life into minute-long songs with stomp parts and sing-alongs.
I could go on for way, way too long about this record, so I’ll stop here and say: thank you to Jordan, Patrick, and Casey, as well as Jason from Facedown Records for allowing me to reissue this piece of hardcore—and personal—history.
This is an edition of 50 baby blue tapes, with 3 panel fold out J-Cards. The liner notes were replicated exactly from the CD release by yours truly. 40 are available online.
I can’t believe I’m doing a FFO for a 20-year old record, but this is for fans of the old school: Side By Side, Uniform Choice, Insted , etc.
